To paste text without its original formatting (so it will format the same way as the rest of the copy you’re pasting into)…
- On the MAC after copying the required text – instead of ⌘+V, press ⌘+Shift+V.
- On other devices – instead of Control+V, press Control+Shift+V.
- Word has the option to “Paste Special…” (or “Paste and Match Style”) which does the same thing.
Because, (we’ve all been there!) when you copy text from some applications, and especially from the web, you tend to also copy the formatting. So when you paste this into another doc or email etc, it looks out of place. It’s frustrating too because it can be time-consuming to reformat.
