When people in your organisation create items inside your cloud-based environment, consider:
- What they call items created (files and folders).
- Where they place them.
- How easily people will be able to search for and/or locate them.
This is a topic I spend a lot of time helping people with so is worth noting:
Key considerations for you to be mindful of might include:
- Now that we are working in a shared environment where people can collaborate on items at the same time, you should consider how your filing system enhances this – or not (and if not, what are you going to do about it).
- If you have 3 or more pieces of meaning inside every file name and folder name, this will greatly enhance the ability of people to search for items.
- Consider how everyone thinks differently when they search, then work with them to create this protocol. If you would like help with this, please get in touch with us.
