When people in your organisation create items inside your cloud-based environment, consider:

  1. What they call items created (files and folders).
  2. Where they place them.
  3. How easily people will be able to search for and/or locate them.

This is a topic I spend a lot of time helping people with so is worth noting:

Key considerations for you to be mindful of might include:

  1. Now that we are working in a shared environment where people can collaborate on items at the same time, you should consider how your filing system enhances this – or not (and if not, what are you going to do about it).
  2. If you have 3 or more pieces of meaning inside every file name and folder name, this will greatly enhance the ability of people to search for items.
  3. Consider how everyone thinks differently when they search, then work with them to create this protocol. If you would like help with this, please get in touch with us.
