How to colourise tabs in your Google Sheet

How to change the style of cells based on what is entered

This video (6 min 10 sec) is taken from the course ‘Google Sheets & Forms for the Office 1It shows how to protect a range of cells in your Sheet. This is handy if you want to change the colour of cells in your Sheet based on what someone enters into a particular cell:

Example use scenarios might include:

  • Making a cell for mobile numbers change colour if a staff member hasn’t entered their number.
  • Changing the background colour of a cell if the date (eg. for Teacher Registration) is due within (for example) 2 months time.
  • Changing the colour of a column if the cost goes over a certain level, for example if you have a budget area that is exceeded.

How to set up an internal navigation inside your Staff Booklet

[accessally_user_firstname], this final video (3 min 19 sec) will put the final touch into your Staff Booklet by giving you an internal navigation.

This trick uses a little-known feature that allows you to create a link from a cell to another part of your Google Sheet. This will greatly speed up your ability to navigate inside your Staff Booklet and staff will appreciate how much time it saves them navigating through your amazing Staff Booklet.
